I am just saying is all. If you have some amazing method for purling continental style on DPNs please share because what I am doing, well it’s only just workable.

I’m a continental girl and I always keep my needle underneath the one that was just knit. It seems to make the knitting easier and also prevents ladders. Does that make sense? How do you do it? It took me a few socks to get comfortable, and it gets much easier once you’ve done a couple of centimetres.

Hello - nice blog! I have tried and tried to purl continental but I run into trouble and always end up throwing the yarn over the wrong way, and then I just try and ‘push’ the thread down with my forefinger but still have the other needles to contend with. I share your frustration! I will do anything to avoid purling and my motto is that we shouldn’t need to purl if we use dpn’s - well, it just makes me feel better for not knowing how to :-)

Where exactly is your problem? I knit continental style and I’m happy to help you; I guess “DPNs” means a set of 3 or 4 needles on which you knit circularly (I’m German, so some - actually many - knitting terms are unknown to me). Maybe I can try and take pictures of how I purl when I’m making socks, do you think that would help?
