Two Spearfish, two lines

I spent today knitting like a crazy person. The two lines you see above appeared this morning, so I rushed off for an early beta with my GP who, unlike IVF clinics, take ALL DAY to get blood test results. Two lines turned very rapidly into two socks. I had just pulled the card out of my camera after taking these photos when they finally called to say that I am officially pregnant. It may not last, heck, it may not even last until my period is due (on the weekend), but it is closer than we have been in nearly two years of trying. And that is something. Quite something.

The question is what will I knit while waiting for Thursday’s follow up result? Because you know it’s all about the knitting…

Spearfish all done
Pattern: Spearfish Socks
Yarn: Grignasco Bambi Merino Extrafine, shade #680
Needles: 2.75mm Pony Rosewood DPNS, 3.25mm Bamboo DPNs

One question I do have for the experienced sock knitters amongst you. How enthusiastically should I weave the ends? I have woven them in for now but haven’t clipped of the excess in case I ought to do some more weaving first. This is superwash wool so the ends won’t felt into place.

Wonderful news, Jo. All good wishes for continued good news.
And pretty socks! Guess we could say you’re *in the pink*, all around, eh?

Oh Jo! I’m so happy for you! STICKY STICKY STICKY thoughts. Is it a relief, or are you still feeling crazy?

Nice socks too. ;-)

That’s wonderful news. I will continue to send good thoughts your way!
Your socks turned out beautiful!! I only weave in for an inch or so and have never seen an end stick out.

OMG. I am crossing all my needles, pens, pencils, legs, and anything else I can think of for you!

Congratulations Jo! That’s wonderful news. Little one, please hang on tight.

Beautiful socks too btw. I am also into knitting socks lately. It’s very hard to find sock patterns for little kids (not babies, not toddlers and not pre-teens). I am sort of making up my own as I go.

Congratulations!

Your socks turned out beautiful - I love the picture with the feet sole-to-sole. It reallly shows all the pattern in symmetry.

I’m sending good vibes your way. The socks look great. About the ends? I used to only weave a little bit, and some of mine have started to come undone, so weave away, I say!

Comment by Rachael on 9/11/2005 @ 7:26 am

oh, sticky thoughts to you…..my that sounds wierd, but you know what I mean!

Comment by Purly Whites on 9/11/2005 @ 7:28 am

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you! Good luck!

The socks are absolutely gorgeous. I’ve found that weaving the ends in a bit and then leaving maybe a 1/4 of an inch or a little more sticking out works well. It doesn’t work itself out to the right side of the yarn, but it isn’t enough to feel or snag on something.

Congratulations and definately sending sticky thoughts your way. Perhaps I’ll send glue too:P
The socks are gorgeous and as far as what to knit next……. I’m going to suggest some socks for you.

Two little pink lines never looked so good. They outshine the socks as Im sure you’ll agree. I am keeping all things crossable crossed for your little embryo, I hope it hangs on tight. The fact that it has showed up early is hopefully a sign of nice high hormone levels which equals a viable pregancy. Take care

Beautiful socks!! I have been trying to locate Pony rosewood needles for months in the US. Where did you purchase yours? I use the Pony rosewood straights and love them.
