shhh it’s a secret

I can’t tell you much about this project, because, well, it’s a secret. But I can tell you some simple things I have learned in the process of casting on today. Firstly, 22 is not half of 48. Secondly, I am a tight knitter, it is time I accepted this fact and just started swatching two needle sizes up. The thing is that while I wonder whether knitting so much tighter than average means I am really tense, I also wonder how one maintains even tension when knitting too much looser…

Doing the secret handshake here ! ;-]

If the way you knit feels comfortable then there’s no need to change. If it makes your hands hurt you can train yourself to knit a little more loosely.Consciously try to relax.

beautiful colours on that secret. what’s the yarn you’re using? maybe changing the type of needle will help with the tightness? i tend to knit tighter on bamboo and looser on others…

I’m a tight knitter, too, and I’m TENSE as. Or so I’m told. But we’re happy people, no? But, gotta do the same as you, and knit with needles a few sizes up. ‘Tis annoying!

Very pretty colors!! How exciting that it’s a secret. It’ll be fun seeing what it is when you’re all done. :)

Pattern: Bella Bag
Yarn: Hawthorn Cottage 5 Ply in colour #15
Needles: 6.5mm/40cm Crystal Palace bamboo circular

Bella (and swatch) consumed 65g of my 100g hank. I think I am going to try to squeeze another, smaller, bag out of what is left. I am really very happy with how Bella turned out, although I wish I had twisted the handles a lot more. I was going to give her to Isabelle as soon as she was done, but now I am thinking my own little belle may need to wait until Christmas to see her Bella.

Great job Jo! I love my felted bag - I take it everywhere. I think I’m going to make the Sophie Bag next with some modifications. Good for you for making up your own pattern as well.
